En moins d’un an, le Musée a tenté d’acquérir à deux reprises des tableaux d’Evenepoel en vente publique. Sans succès. C’est à la demande du Musée que Mme Van Mattenburgh soumet quatre tableaux du peintre. Le dossier contient les catalogues de deux ventes publiques en la galerie Giroux.
