Fraser se décide à vendre le tableau à cause de la « pruderie anglaise » qui ne permet pas de l’exposer dans une maison particulière. Le dossier contient le rapport d’expertise de Victor Le Roy daté 14.03.1896 ainsi que le catalogue de la vente S.H. Fraser qui a eu lieu à Londres chez Christie, Manson & Woods le 7 mai 1904. Le tableau de Coxcie Leda and the Swan with Helen, Castor and Pollux y figure sous le numéro 22.
