Le gouvernement a commandé à Picquery un groupe représentant un faune et enfant. Le groupe en marbre, terminé en janvier 1888, est soumis pour examen à la Commission du musée qui l’accepte. Le plâtre est renvoyé à l’artiste. La minute du 20 mai 1889 mentionne un marbre de Ducaju resté en souffrance au Musée depuis le salon de 1884.
