Concerne le prêt en 1939 de 12 tableaux appartenant au Musée et d’autres appartenant à des musées belges (Anvers, Brugge, Courtrai) et des collectionneurs privés ainsi que leur dépôt pendant la guerre à la National Art Gallery à Washington. Quatre tableaux anciens endommagés à l’Exposition des Primitifs flamands à New York ont du être restaurés aux Etats-Unis par David Rosen (Orley inv. 1454, Memling inv. 2927, David inv. 3559 et Van der Goes inv. 2748 ?). La collection d’art belge contemporain (15 tableaux et 4 bronzes) envoyée aux USA en 1939 est également conservée en dépôt pendant la guerre et rapatriée en 1947. Le dossier contient des photographies n/b de plusieurs tableaux, dont la Cuisinière de P. Aertsen (inv. 3744), ainsi que des extraits de presse. Affiche ???
