La collection est expertisée par Héris et De Cauwer à la demande du ministère. Le Musée propose de placer certaines œuvres d’importance secondaire dans les musées de province. Plusieurs pièces concernent le vol de la Tentation de saint Antoine (inv. 2585) qui a eu lieu en 1915.
